Name: Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum Location: 4011 Yupon Google Map Website: Here History: These 13th-century masterworks were stolen from a chapel in a Turkish-occupied town of Lysi, Cyprus and cut into pieces. The Menil Foundation rescued and restored the works and they are now on long-term loan from the Church of Cyprus. Interesting Tidbits: only Byzantine wall frescoes in the Western Hemisphere Photog Friendly: Unknown open Friday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. admission free (713) 521-3990 |
