The Police Memorial on Memorial Drive offers parking and alot of greenspace to take a nice angled image of Downtown from the Northwest side.

You'll need a very wide angle, or have to panorama the shots together.

Right across Memorial from that spot is a hill with a sculpture - also a good place to get a more head on shot of DT from west.

Allen Parkway - 11-03-2008, 09:14 PM

Many of the parks and green spaces along Allen Parkway offer views and shots of DT from the west.

Use caution at night - don't go alone. Also, at night, watch your car as break ins have occurred.

From the East - 11-03-2008, 09:17 PM

A "secret" view of the skyline from an angle not normally used.

It's a nearly empty street and field just to the West of the intersection of Jensen & Clinton, so you are viewing Houston from the ENE side.

Also nearby is a great view from a bridge over the Channel (on Hirsch/York): http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie...,0.006866&z=18

Park at the park on the south side. Not the best of neighborhoods, so don't leave anything valuable in your car. Also a GREAT place to be at dawn when the rising sun lights the buildings in Orange.
