you should take a drive to the more undeveloped parts of the county this weekend. I would guess that in the city limits property owners must cut down tall grasses fairly frequently. i live out close to cypress - so lots of options out here. look for something past the new outlets.

You might try the Grimes Prairie at the Armand Bayou Nature Center off Bay Area Blvd. south of town.

There is a lot of tall grass (prairie) at Sheldon Lake State Park. Most of the grasses are different shades of brown during the winter.

Another idea is to use a fair size retention pond (when things dry out, LOL). The one by my house is a couple of football fields in size and they let the grass grow to a foot tall.

Depending on when they last mowed it, the George Bush Park (Westheimer Parkway just east of Fry Road), back where the hike, bike & horse trails are, often has high grass... 750 acres of it...

Nature Reserve in Kingwood - 01-09-2009, 12:24 AM

Perfect 4 foot weeds and nice kept paths!

It's the Kingwood nature reserve. Go north on 59 to Kingwood and exit at Kingwood Dr. Take a right and stay on that road until it ends about 5-7 mi ( you will see a lil strip of pavement to park). It is your first path on the right (before you get to the yellow road blockers before the trails begin.

Can't wait to go shoot there, it's literally right in the middle of a well developed community but when you get out into the field it looks like your in the middle of no where..it's about 400 yards across.

Wow, that's right across the lake, and I had no idea it was there. Guess where I'll be next Saturday?

Hey Dre,
I went out to East End Park in Kingwood this morning. I've posted some of the photos here if you want to check them out to see if it will work for you. Some of the fields of grass were about 18" tall, others were about 3' tall.
WARNING: People bring their dogs out there, and don't clean up after them. Watch your step.

I'm kind of partial to the 3rd one. It just needs a kid with a straw hat and a cane fishing pole and his dog by his side.
