Kingwood bridge - 01-09-2009, 12:41 AM

Rusted old metal bridge with great lines.

Go North on 59 toward Kingwood and exit Townsend. Stay on the feeder past bestbuy and then you will see it (runs along working freeway but the bridge is now landmark). You will park under the overpass so take a right and do a U under the bridge.

I've shot there 3-4 times. I love it and see it a different way each time. :)

I've seen it as well while on the way to other places.

Is it officially open to public use, and is there traffic on it?

Could a car be shot on it?

It is open to the public. No there is no traffic. And i dont think there is a way to place a car on it. It was the orginal bridge until they place the new feader on. I think it has concrete post blocking the entrance so only walkers can get on. I would have to check and see next time I go to it.

Is the area under the bridge and main highway overpasses photogenic from an "industrial" perspective?

Any graffiti?

I just checked it out in Google Earth. Coordinates are 30.0269110667, -95.2584510158.

I plan on heading there for a "scouting shoot" soon and will share the web gallery here.

ya, it would work for "industrial".

no graffiti to speak of. hwy usually cleans it pretty quickly.

no cars on bridge now, only foot traffic now.

Do any trigger-happy couples or rocket hobbyists live nearby?

Well I live in Dayton. I dont know who else on here live close by.

Harveyphotos added 8 Minutes and 52 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

Here are a few I took of my kids about 30min ago. Very hot and sunny today though. Would of gotten more but couldn't bare the heat anymore.

The river it over looks

On the other side of the highway is an old railroad track that still in use.

Nice looking "pseudo beach".

Have you ever shot on it?

I didn't realize that many streams in the Houston area have sandy shorelines until I started shooting at Meyer and Jesse Jones parks.

There is also quite a bit in some areas of Bear Creek Park. and most noticeably, at the sand pit lake near Morton Ranch High School.

Cornbread lives in Dayton.

Looks like an inviting spot for a Foray by the Olde Philm Pharts.
