Question Ranch style location for a shoot... Help! - 02-04-2009, 12:13 PM

Hello!

I'm new on this website & actually new to the photography world. I need some help, I was asked to do a photography shoot for some friends of mine who are in a band. They want to take pictures at a farm or an old rustic barn. Any ideas?

I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in Advance!

You might try Kleb Woods off of Mueschke rd. and Draper lane. They have an old barn and house there.

I live in the Southeast area of Houston close to Pasadena which would be the best area. Any other locations?

Armand Bayou Nature Center is farmy/ranchy (not to be confused with raunchy). Check out my partner's site where we did an e-session.

Hickman Ranch is another great location. Raymond Fosdick held a bridal location shoot there a while back.
The website doesn't show the ponds and the great variety of elements they have there.

Ok so here are the pictures I took at Armand Bayou. C&C please, I'm a newbie so I would really appreciate them. This was my first time taking pictures. I was looking into this location for a future shoot & went with my bf so I ended up using him as my model. lol

Try George Ranch (http://www.georgeranch.org/). It's out near Richmond 59/Crabtree. I've shot a fashion there before and it's really nice. You do have to pay. I think it's $9/person. But, it's worth the money. Also, just let them know that you are only shooting for personal reasons.

Judy, overall I like to composition on all except the one where he is sitting. Too busy. Also, work on your DOF. For example on #2 - I would have had the barn a lot more blurred. Awesome spot though, I must right this one down.
