Old Baylor Park (not sure on the blooming status as yet) near Independence (the town), and near Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park.

an excellent site to explore before you go:

Bluebonnets were blooming along the Hwy 6 ROW between Hempstead & Navasota 2 weeks ago. They were blooming along the I-10 ROW between Katy & Luling last weekend.

This site used to be an excellent source. I'm not sure what happened, but it gets almost no activity anymore.

I don't know about North of Houston, but I was in Austin county this afternoon and there were a few nice spots in the Bleiblerville area.

We have been taking Sunday drives lately. 2 weekends ago we went thru Magnolia and got on 105 thru Navasota to Brenham. TONS of bluebonnets that way. Last week we took 529 from Cypress into Belville, and that was pretty too...just not as many bluebonnets.
