No disagreement there. I don't care for most of what gets posted under the "HDR" label, and I'm not really a fan of color IR either. For me B/W is pretty interpretive already, and monochrome IR is just one more potential tool in the kit. I've not taken many IR images that I really like; the conditions have to be just right, but it's something I occasionally experiment with. It seems most IR shots you see are in full sunlight, but I find the effect is far more interesting when there is a mix of shadows and sunlight on the scene. Here's one past example that I was pretty happy with: http://www.pbase.com/jkohn/image/103395389/original. The mountain pano with setting moon that I posted a little while back was also infrared.

I think the IR pano with the moon works very well... I like the way it casts the whole scene. I juxtapose that to the other IR linked where I am more ambivalent about it... At first, I think it makes it look like there is a nice bright, even sunlight falling across the scene. But in fact, I think it removes the shades of gray that I would expect to see in the trees themselves. I think the IR is actually compressing what should be several shades of grey into one. As a whole I think the picture works, but not as well, in my opinion, as the one with the moon.

When I looked at the one with the moon, if you had not said in the label that it was IR, I would never have guessed.

I welcome comments on any picture I post... Thanks.

Some 120 Ilford SFX and a red filter would be interesting.
