Anyone recall what the airshow was called before it was the Wings Over Houston event? I attended a couple of these as a kid in the early 70's, but can't remember the name back then for the life of me. That was my first exposure to the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds! Loved 'em ever since!

I noticed on the FAQ that backpacks and totes were not allowed due to FAA rules. If this is the case, how do you get a camera bag in (esp as mine is a backpack)?

Here is the link to the front page with the disclaimer on bags, totes & large purses:

Here is a link to the faq that makes it seem as if camera bags are allowed:

Last year I brought mine in a Tamrac Slingshot and had no issues. I just opened it and showed them the camera gear.

Are cameras allowed?
Yes, cameras for personal use are allowed. Your camera bags will be checked by gate security upon entry. Remember that the Airshow performance and many performers' acts are copyrighted, and your photography or video cannot be used for commercial purposes.

The first show after 9/11, they were really tight about bags. I had to go back to my car, unload the bag and hang everything around my neck and fill my pockets too. They are quite reasonable about it now, but they still don't like the coolers. They do a visual inspection (usually polite National Guard folks), no worries. The smaller the bag, the less chance you'll be hassled.
