Needville High School Bluejay Band will kick off the annual Needville Country Christmas celebration at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, by City Hall.
The school’s choir will perform at 5:30 p.m., followed by singer Vincent Lutz at 6:30 p.m. and accordion player Dan Pavlas at 7:15 p.m. Grace Community Church Praise Band will give the final performance of the evening at 8 p.m.
Featured activities include wagon rides, moon walks, face painting, free truck rides and a live nativity and the Santa Express Train..
Many businesses will hold open houses, featuring refreshments for children and a “Big Kids’ Giveaway” of a Nintendo Wii. Entries can be picked up at participating businesses, so the more stores visited, the more chances to win.
Many businesses will give away gift certificates, and most will have sales too. The certificates will be given away at about 8:30 p.m. on the stage near City Hall.
Santa Claus will be on hand at Kinfolks Antiques and Western Power and Hardware, and both places will offer face painting. Kinfolks will also have goodie bags for children, and His & Hers will have free ornaments for children.
Wagon rides, door prizes, gifts for children and refreshments will be offered at Inspiring Designs, and Friends of the Library are sponsoring readings by Mrs. Claus from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Albert George Library. Peppermint sticks will be given to the children who attend the readings.
There will be a gift basket giveaway and refreshments at First Main Auto, food at Wood Burners’ Barbecue, refreshments and a prize drawing at NewFirst National Bank and a craft sale by the Catholic Daughters at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
At the Needville Fire Department, children can ride on fire trucks, mail letters to the North Pole and have the pictures taken with Santa, and everyone can enter a quilt raffle.
Door prizes will be featured at Old Trails West Outfitters, and goodie bags for children will be given away at A Wild Hair. Both places will offer refreshments, as will Winter Hawk Insurance Agency, which will also have plenty of goodie bags on hand for the younger set.
Needville Community Church will have a train on hand at City Hall, and children can have their photographs taken with Santa at Neil’s Photography from 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Santa will also be present at Nordt Insurance Agency, which will offer goodie bags, door prizes and refreshments as well.,
There will be an open house at Curves, coffee and hot chocolate at Prosperity Bank, popcorn at Grace Community Church and a large stocking giveaway at Simple Simon’s Pizza.
Springer’s Gymnastics will offer performances by its students, along with show-and-tell and refreshments, and refreshments will be served at Ole Style Jerky. |
