Historic Richmond Association presents the city’s annual Christmas celebration, Miracle on Morton Street, from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.
The fun begins with an opening ceremony that includes a welcome by City Commissioner Bill Dostal, presentation of the flag by the city’s fire and police departments’ Color Guard and prayer by the Rev. David Luckert of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Renee Miura, winner of the Adult Division of the 2008 Fort Bend County Fair Talent Show, will perform 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Wagon rides through historic downtown Richmond will be offered 1-5 p.m., and singer Damon Watson II will take the stage 1:30-2 p.m., 2:30-3 p.m. and 5-5:30 p.m.
Calvary Episcopal School Choir will perform 2-2:30 p.m., and Heart of Worship Church band and singers 3-4 p.m.
Ronald McDonald and his Big Red Shoe Car will be at the Kid Zone from 3-5 p.m.; St. John’s Methodist Church Choir will perform 4-4:30 p.m.; Pecan Grove Elementary School Hand Chimes Choir takes the stage 4:30-5 p.m.; and George Bush High School Marching Band performs from 5:30-7 p.m.
Young and old alike will thrill to Santa’s arrival as he rappels down the water tower about 6 p.m., and Wessendorff Middle School Band and Choir will perform 7-7:30 p.m.
Fort Bend Seniors presents the lighting of the Tree of Honor at 7 p.m. in front of City Hall on Morton Street.
Throughout the event, there will be plenty of entertainment, including Dickens street performers.
Craft and food booths will offer a wide variety of fare, and stores will be open for Christmas shopping.
Children can have their photographs taken with Santa and his elves, and whisper their wish lists into the ear of the Jolly Old Elf.
