I'm sure they'd at the very least want advance notice, but I'd give them a call to find out the details:

If it's in a paid-for room, it would be much easier to ask for forgiveness.

Otherwise, seek permission.

Well, I sent them an email so I could have something for print later. Haven't heard back from them yet.

Sorry it may disappoint you, Angel, but my post is not that high profile to attract discussion. So you might have to take your popcorn to somewhere else. LOL.

Both here and on sites such as Model Mayhem, discussions concerning trespassing, permits, and seeking proper approval often become popcorn-worthy drama.

That's because photographers tend to fall into two opposing camps: Conformists and rebels.

Thanks, Richard. I know how those posts look like. I am definitely for asking permission first. I probably should change my topic to "how to get permission shooting in HAH". What I said to Angel was my posts usually don't get that many response in order to turn into a popcorn tasting. LOL.

FWIW, here is my stance on asking permission:

If a location is open to general public use, and a reasonable person would view photography in a location-appropriate style as suitable usage, then it is easier to ask for forgiveness in that situation.

Examples would be shooting casual or fashion in a public park.

If a location is open only to specific public use, off-limits to the public, or the style of photography is inappropriate for the location, permission should be sought.

Examples would be shooting nudes in a public place, or shooting in an off-limits area like an industrial facility.

Needless permission seeking can actually be bad, as it gives a low-level or otherwise misinformed person an easy opportunity to deny you.

On the other hand, going ahead and shooting within reason places the burden of being "the heavy" on someone else.

Here is the popcorn sucker!

What I was implying is pretty much every thread that someone comments, that it is better to ask for forgiveness goes to the kitchen for popcorn or does not do this for a living or as a PRO! IMO

But I know you Ming, you wouldn't do anything wrong!

Please, Wayne, Please keep out of this, but I can't.
This is just the same thing that we just went over just the other day, and we wonder why photographers get a bad rap. I do know that when I was younger it did not matter as much to me but as I grew older and was in business longer I did start to understand that what any photographer does reflects on all photographers. Even if you just shoot for fun, if you are shooting a model the public sees you as a professional and what you do reflects on us all, so please for all of our reputations do call and get permission. This “Ask for forgiveness not permission” stuff is really silly and so, so unprofessional.
I really do care about a wonderful profession, and art, and I am not calling names or trying to get anything started. Just my feelings.

Get the popcorn out if needed,
Thanks
Wayne
