Somewhere a bit closer to 290-1960-6? Willowbrook is nice but the traffic after work is a pain.

the place i'm thinking of is Jones/1960 area. may not be better traffic-wise, but is closer to the Copperfiled end of things for some folks. it has more space and has real food. and drinks for those so inclined. I thought I would mention it at the next gtg to gage.

typically 6.30 last Wed of the month (hence Wayne's fretfulness...). mostly talking/visiting. bring equip if you have questions or need tutoring or just want to let us drool on your new 500mm/f1 double red circle glass.....

outside? Houston? In July? at 6.30 pm? are you serious? (....just teasing of course....but only a little....).

Last time was Panera Bread 249/Spring Cypress. very traffic-y area. worked well but it was a bit crowded, hard to get together and folks could get isolated too easily (or so I thought).

place of choice needs:
1) good food
2) large or easily moved tables
3) "refreshments" of the brewed variety (if so inclined, just DP for me)
4) not too crowded so that our loitering won't cause folks to get pissy....
5) good food (worth 2 votes)
6) a smaller business that could use some local support

place I have in mind: Cajun Tails. on 1960@ Steepletop, behind bank; 1 block w of Jones.

scoring per above (all imho,1 yetch-10 fabulous...)

not a chain, good folks, have discussed the potential with them previously. not trendy, definitely not fancy. clean enough.... family run, lotsa room. they're from N.O. so they know cajun.

try the grilled tallapia.....seriously.

anyway, we can discuss at next gtg, which i will assume is at Panera Bread as before unless someone decides otherwise before then.

Ok, wasn't aware of the 6:30 thing. Although it's almost down to 90 deg by 6:30...downright chilly by Houston summer standards.

Anything near 290 and Hwy6/1960 is cool with me (including the cajun place above). We're talking about Wed, July 29 then, right?

Bryan, for actual photography, the weekends and smaller groups seem to work better. Or so I have found. We can do that too. Then go to the Cajun place.

let's stop moving it further OUT...as it is right now we're at Barker Cypress, and that's getting further away from town.

We used the Fuddruckers for a while but it was getting crowded with sports teams and such...the free nachos were always good for a laugh though ;)

290/6 is still a good ways out, but I think a lot of the NW people actually live closer to Willowbrook. Although I'd rather it was closer to 290. Heck my favorite BBQ place is at 290/6 (Harris County Smoke House).
