It's freaking gorgeous. The only way I can figure to do this and not go broke is to rent it for a weekday night - and then set up a minimum of 4 back to back sessions.....
Anyway - just curious if anyone has done this/ seen this? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

hmm i have a bridal i could do there...perhaps we could think about sharing it.
and frankly, i think you have a good idea going on here... i know for one, i am really tired of the one place i've been to that rents - paraiso marivalla. it's beautiful, but i'm worn out on it.
perhaps a good way to do this would be to just schedule your bridal or whatever at the zaza - and then announce it's available to other photogs who may want to share with you. i know if i needed to get some done, i'd be up for it. (and evidently i do have a bridal coming up that was a little unplanned.

Anybody got any extra popcorn ? I'm running low and the history of this topic leads me to believe there will be a long discussion re: legality, morality, functionality.
I'll start:
Do you really think ZAZA will let you rent a room and then conduct a business in that room ? I need to rebuild a motorcycle and that would be a good place to do it. READ THIS THREAD

my last conversation with the zaza in houston went a little something like this...
"how much to shoot bridal portraits there?"
"is the bride having her wedding here?"
"no."
"we only allow brides who have their wedding here to take bridal portraits in our public areas."
"can we rent a suite for the night and take bridal portraits in the suite?"
"yes, but you will still not have access to our public areas for the portraits."
read through the post tom linked to. bottom line, clear it with mgmt first, in writing.

haha tom...i have tons of popcorn - come on by! it's a nice thought though isn't it? i would LIKE to be able to use this as an option, with their permission of course, and a paid fee. what i was suggesting is the paid fee be split between the parties that are using it. let's say for instance, they charged $300 for 2 hours. i would certainly be up for paying half for half the time. there is no way i would sneak in someplace to take photos without permission - how embarassing would that be ...

I could make my house up to look just like one of those "pay by the hour" places.
come to think of it, it's ready now...

So in my simple little world, is it safe to say, if you plan on doing a shoot on someone else's property, you get their permission first?

I don't know why everyone always insists on full disclosure with the hotel staff. Just take your gear into the room, have the bride/subject get dressed/undressed in the room, do what you need to do, then leave.
Unless they have illegal monitoring devices, who's to know? You paid for the room, you can do with it as you like (as long as you're not sacrificing goats in there). Not only that, do you sign some kind of agreement prior to rental that forbids business in the room?

not saying i disagree...but i just like knowing i have permission.
let's see, week nights, beautiful women keep walking in and out...who knows. chances of getting caught...slim to none. legal ramifications afterwards...high.
do you even know what you sign? most likely it has some vague thing on there saying you agree to their terms and conditions...which only their team of lawyers can understand and have access to.
just food food for thought. i'm not going to call mgmt on someone or anything.

They are notorious for being very unfriendly to photogs, especially in room use. And, if they catch you, even after the fact (i.e. see posted images), I can easily see them suing you for big money: It could be considered interference with their business/trade by making their place seem cheap/tawdry/etc - and it's not hard to find a jury that will rule that way in Texas.
