Permits? - 01-22-2010, 02:06 PM

Hi, I'm new here =)

I was just wondering if y'all get permits to do photo sessions at the parks?
I have a session coming up at Hermann park, and wasn't sure if I needed to get a permit or not...

TIA!

http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...expensive.html

There are some places that need permits, such as The Williams Tower, Discovery Green (although you can sometimes get away without one here) and the Japanese Gardens.
Permits are mostly needed when doing a shoot for income. Sometimes they let you slide if it's just friends getting together. It also depends on if you bring a lot of 'pro' gear- Giant cameras, bags and light stands etc.

What's an "SL 430EXII"?

Well who knows, you may be able to get away with it. When is the shoot scheduled?

Well, I went today...just got home!
Saw a security/park guy and he was just chatting with me about my camera. LOL
He asked if I could see all the way to the other side of the park.
No mention of any permits =)

cool. Sometimes it just depends who's on duty at the time. Glad it worked out. Guess we'll be seeing some results in the "People" Section...

Just read on this ...

I wanted to add, that I actually called in to each Park that I did a photoshoot or videoshoot on. And each time I would get a ,"We'll call you back answer" and then don't hear from them.
So then I proceeded to call the local PD and ask what the issue was for photography or videography in parks and if a permit was needed.

They said, "As long as it's not some kind of public indecency, you are all good".

Just FYI, that I did a bit of research and leg work to cover my tush.
