| Needed: Web designer + other skills -

The company I work for is just about to post this job on the wire, but I figured I'd throw out a line here to see if anyone here could be the right fit.
We are a somewhat smaller company (~120 people in this location), privately owned. We have an in-house graphics department with currently 3 folks, looking to add a 4th. We're located in Cypress, near 290 and 1960. This is an 8am to 5pm job, paid hourly. There's a possibility of some overtime at certain times, but it's not typical to work longer hours.
We need a web designer, photographer, videographer, and print layout designer all in one. While that sounds pretty "big," I'll try to explain a bit more in detail to make it more clear.
The primary focus, is web design. You don't need to be a developer, we have another department that writes all the code. But, you MUST understand how a web application is assembled in components, and how to design for web applications versus simple web pages. You must know HTML, and that does NOT mean clicking the B button in Dreamweaver makes something bold. You need to actually be able to write a page in a text editor if you had to (yes, we do have the full Adobe Creative Suite though). You must also know CSS, and again be able to show you understand it outside of an editor. You should also understand the DOM, and enough JavaScript to at least understand how things are wired up.
The secondary focus is the rest of that list. Your photography skills will involve doing more product photography than anything. We have a line of ~40,000 products, many which still need to be shot. Pretty simple, set it on the light table, push the remote shutter, chimp on the tethered computer, save as, wash, rinse, repeat. There are opportunities above and beyond just product snaps, if your skills are there and you want to do it - headshots, events, etc. You'll likely do some video editing as well, but we're not creating cinematic blockbusters. No, our needs lie more along the lines of editing down product demonstration videos and such. Last but not least, we do a lot of print work as well, mainly product fliers, specials fliers, a big print catalog, etc. So you could very likely be involved in doing some of this as well.
So .... if you have the skills and want to see if you're a good fit, let me know. |
