Question about Brazos Bend State Park - 05-24-2010, 09:20 AM

I have never been and thinking about going tomorrow morning. Can anyone give me some pointers on what part of the park to head to for photos? I have a mountain bike and kayak I can bring along, would either of them be useful for getting around for photos? Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

Ronnie

The gators appreciate a little crunchy kayak..........only kidding.

Don't go in the back corner along the river. BORING.

Gators don't bother me when in my kayak, fish around them all the time. But I did look and according to the parks site you can't "boat" in the lakes. Wonder if by boat they also mean kayak :-)

40 acre lake and elm lake are the most popular spots. Boating in any form is not allowed, no would I want to. Biking the back trails (down by the river ) can be good in the early morning/ late afternoon.

Thanks Fred for the areas. Hoping to make it down there soon. Kind of sucks they don't allow boating in the lakes but those are the rules. If it is because of the gators that you would not boat they really don't bother you in a kayak. I fish in a lot of ponds filled with gators. They may come up and see what you are doing but that is about it. Only trick is to stay away from nest when they have little ones.
