Forbidden Gardens, Katy, TX - 01-24-2011, 09:14 AM

I know that some of us have been there multiple times - - I have been on some of the group shoots. This thread reports their closing and I saw a similar story on TV news last week, as well.

Since the rain was put off in yesterday's forecast, I decided to pay what will probably be my last visit there. The light was not great and there were more people there than I have ever seen at one time visiting the place.

I took quite a few pictures and will be posting more in my gallery over time as I work on them. Thanks for looking.

Shucks. No way I can get there before the closing.
Are they relocating?

It appears that you had a tripod. Or you are getting on with IS. Either way, these are nice close ups.

Thanks, Wayne. These 2 pictures used tripod IS, but I also shot hand-held with the internal camera IS turned on. LOL!

I have seen or heard several sources of information about the future of the gardens, none of it consistent, and the people there yesterday had nothing to say about the future plans. I have even heard the the stuff could be boxed up and sent back to China.

Frankly, there are some warrior statues, roughly 3' tall, that actually are made of that orange terracotta, rather than the composite material the large life size figures are made of, that I would not mind having one of, if they decided to sell some of them off...

I started adding some color images to the B&W collection I had... here's a sample...

While I have been there many times, this was my most successful visit.

Of course I can't make it this Saturday, and Sunday is calling for 50% chance of rain.

Fingers crossed that they'll be there for another weekend or two.
