Park with Crepe Myrtles - 03-14-2011, 08:54 PM

Does anyone know of a park or location other than the side of the road that has Crepe Myrtles? I have a couple for an engagement shoot and the female recently moved here and fell in love with them and wants them in the shot....
Thanks!!

You need to get out and scout Houston and the surrounding area a little bit. since you are in the Northwest part of town , within an hour of you is the Antique Rose Emporium, Mercer Arboretum, Houston Arboretum, Bayou Bend...you get the point. Some of these locations may require permission or permits.

But seriously - crepe myrtles are like the Municipal tree around here! Go scout around!

Thanks Howard, but unfortunately, I didn't even know what a crepe myrtle was until she asked and I googled it.
I have shot at Mercer before but again, probably didn't even notice them while I was there
I'll check out some of your other suggestions though

Plus you have a little bit of time to plan it too as the Crepe myrtles are only sprouting out their leaves right now. Still have a while until they start flowering.

May June is probably the best/worst time for Crepe Myrtles. Pretty from a distance. Don't park a car under one. Messy Messy.
