Favorite parts of Houston? - 07-13-2011, 10:09 AM

I'm working on a brochure aimed at people who currently live in "better" cities, to persuade them that Houston is also a great place to live. What are some spots that I could shoot?

Specifically, where's your favorite spot to shoot the skyline? What's the best view of the med center? Favorite park to shoot? Any interesting-looking landmarks that give Houston some personality?

Thanks!

I think the heights is a neighborhood that would interest some people that are looking for smaller non-chain stores and restaurants (and awesome houses). I love Hermann park, maybe some old school churches (to counteract the mega churches lots of people see on tv), Med Center has some really neat locales, and I got some good shots from some of the parking garages (a better photographer could have done better). I know a lot of people shoot downtown from the Sabine bridge.

Lots of tree-lined (real trees, like taller than a house...) areas as mentioned above, and if you can stretch to The Woodlands, that has lots of modern views as well as homes among the trees. Their concrete-lined and visually sterile "waterway" is a bit underwhelming so I can't recommend it at all, altho the older CW Mitchell pavillion and lake are good water shots. Hermann Park, Mercer Botanical Garderns and Arboretum are good park settings to show the abundant natural environment.
