Out of curiosity, how long of an exposure did you have to do in order to become invisible? I assume you moved briskly.

That shot was ISO 100, f/16, and 13 seconds.
My buddy and I were just out of camera frame on the left.
When the timer went off, we dashed to the front of the car (him behind the car and I in front of it) and did our thing with the gel covered flashlights.

it might be a small investment, but how about some of the downtown garages - hobby center garage for example - the skyline would make a nice backdrop
