Film Crawl Anybody?

Welp, it's almost January, so that tells me that it's time for another Houston Film Crawl. Anybody interested?

The past few Film Crawls I've attended were a lot of fun and I wound up with some memorable shots in the bargain. Past film crawls that I have participated in have been to a downtown park area, Anderson, Texas, and Galveston.

If you've never attended one, and are wondering just what the heck is a film crawl anyway, it is basically an opportunity for us old film-shooting curmudgeons (and any eager young whippersnappers we can interest in coming along) to break out the film gear and take our time whilst capturing our images to that wondrous, yet (sadly) increasingly less common, flat recording medium with a very high native megapixel equivalent known as film. 35mm, medium format, large format -- whatever it is that gets your motor a goin'. Slides or print, black and white or color. It's all good.

I reckon if there's some interest, then we can follow Abel's template for a meetup thread. And if this duplicates another thread here -- haven't seen one, I checked -- then never mind.

I would be intereseted...as long as it does not fall on a Sunday...

I would like to put-out-there an evening film crawl...since it gets dark quickly...like walking down montrose...or even downtown...at night...

I could be enticed into another film crawl, but I can only do it the 14th or the 28th.

Note to the other ~32,000 Pixtus members: Digital camera peeps are allowed on the film crawls. We make fun of the film guys and gals taking so much time setting up their shots.

Yeah, thanks for adding that, Larry -- all are welcome, regardless of camera type. Heck, even if you just bring your cell phone. Or a sketch pad and pencils. It's all good.

Me, I'm pretty flexible. I'm assuming most folks will want it to be on a weekend, and my weekends are usually wide open.

Hello, I would like to join you guys if the crawl is scheduled for the 14th. I shot with black and white film a few years ago but just got a new DSLR so I will be shooting that that.

We would love to have you join us. This "event" will take place in/around Houston, Texas. If you are in the neighborhood.
I will check my schedule. Downtown, at or right after dark, weather permitting, sounds cool.

Sure, bring your digital along, w.ftw. If you think you might feel the urge to shoot some B&W film, though, I've got some spare SLRs that I could bring --- let you borrow one of 'em.

I also like the idea of a dusk crawl. Post sunset can be a really nice time for outdoor shots.

At night would be cool...like a thursday or Friday...or even Washington area...around twilight....to dusk...

Folks, I've set up a template for the film crawl, as per Abel's directions. I've set the date as Saturday, January 14th, tentatively, and the meetup time around dusk. We can still bounce this around more, if y'all want. I've also entered the names/handles of all those who have expressed interest. I guess any further discussion should take place in the Film Crawl Template's thread. I'll edit and update the template as necessary.
