Evening Film Crawl: Montrose Area (Weather Permitting)

What is a "film crawl"? As its name implies, it is an event where we dust off our film cameras and put them to use in an unhurried fashion. Taking the time to compose a shot instead of firing off a stream of digital captures, hoping for a lucky hit, leads to a greater awareness of what photography is all about, and more often than not winds up being a very rewarding experience for the photographer. But in the spirit of inclusion, anybody is invited to attend, regardless of the photo equipment they have. Shoot, even cell phone cameras are okay. But if you even have an old 35mm P&S laying around, well, load some film in it, and bring it along.

Given that this event is being planned for evening photography, you'll probably want to bring a tripod.

Montrose Area: Good Meetup Spot?
My vote is for the vicinity of the University of Saint Thomas. Just about everybody will know where that is, I'm thinking, and it's more or less centrally located in the Montrose District.

Time: Just before dusk? The sun sets at 5:43pm on Saturday the 14th. So maybe around 5pm?

Parking is available on W. Alabama (Menil parking lot), which happens to be next to the Houston Center for Photography. This is a few blocks down from St. Thomas.

Hey Craig,

Yeah, sorry for some reason I don't fully understand, the forum software didn't alert me to any new posts in that thread. No matter, I've got you down as an attendee now.

I just checked the weather forecast over at weather.com, and they're showing that Saturday should be sunny and cool, so Saturday eve you'll probably want to bring along a light jacket. No rain in the forecast past today, thankfully.

I reckon Valerie's suggestion about parking is a good one. So I propose that we park at the Menil parking lot on W. Alabama. Meetup time about 5pm, Saturday the 14th.

According to weather.com, tomorrow should be sunny and clear. The high temp is forecast to be 65. Temp at 6pm should be about 56, and at 9pm, 49. So dress accordingly.
