Cotton Fields around Houston? - 02-07-2012, 09:09 PM

Hello,

I am working on a slideshow presentation featuring Texas, based on the Shake Russell song 'Travelin' Texas'. This is a long term project as it will literally require me to travel the length and breath of the state to make the images that will match the song's lyrics and as funds are limited, this will likely take years to complete.

With that said, does anyone know of any cotton fields in and or around the Houston metro area? I've looked on line and came up with very little useful information.

Regards,

Marty

Thanks,

I should also mention that I am most interested in photographing these plants when they are being harvested.

That's the only one I've seen around here lately, but then I really haven't really been looking. I just know about that one, because I used to drive past it about once a month.

There used to be lots of them up in Aggieland, if you're interested in driving up there. They were on school land, so I assume they still plant them every year.

Hwy. 59, left on Spur 10, then left on Hwy 36 toward Sealy and the place is covered with cotton, corn, and milo. Basically between Rosenberg and Wallis/Orchard area. A friend of mine has acres and acres of cotton there near Taverner.

Usually a crop every year on 762 going towards Brazos Bend SP by the George Ranch....sometimes they plant soybeans or grain instead, but worth checking out.
