NEED HELP finding location - Tomball/Magnolia/Woodlands - 10-17-2006, 07:34 PM

I'm looking for some new locations to use for seniors, childrens, and family portraits in the Tomball/Magnolia/Woodlands area. I've used mercer arboretum a few times, but i'm looking for something a little more open for family photos. Anything interesting would be much appreciated. I live in Magnolia (77355), so anything there would be wonderful, I just know that there arent that many locations around that area. I'm sure the woodlands has some good spots, I just don't know where.

Thanks!!

There is a gazebo overlooking a lake off of the Woodlands parkway. I think it's called the Southshore park. Also the Northshore park gives an opposite view of the same lake. I believe Northshore park is off of Lake Woodlands drive. I am fairly new to the area but I have noticed that the Jones state park off of 1488 has some nice scenery.

Spring Creek Park in Tomball, way back as far as you can get from the entrance are some nice shady spots. No gazebos or anything that foofoo, but nice space that you can get decent backgrounds without people/fences/cars.

Thanks for the info!

A friend of mine had some portraits done a while back. They met their photographer in Kingowood area and then traveled to the location. I have no information of it other than there are some barns or something that have the Texas Flag painted on them. Would anyone know where this might be?

Thanks!

Anderson, right up the road from Magnolia. The Courthouse and the historic inn on the edge of town could work. The inn is only open on weekends. It would be different for sure.

i just found a place that was excellent....

http://www.ashelynnmanor.com/ (right now their website is down for some reason).

it's a wedding event place that's really nice, but it's definitely not perfect. does anyone know other places similar to this? it's surprising that the woodlands wouldnt have something like that...

Daniel, I live in the Woodlands and there are tons of places to photograph in. If you are lookiing for gazebos, almost all the subdivisions within their respective villages have their own parks with gazebos.

But, there's my favorite place which has a wonderful looking waterfalls. It's inside the Huntsman Corp., area and can be reached through their parking lot. It's on Gosling just north of Research Forest Drive. I use it on Saturdays and Sundays when there's no one around.

Two others that come to mind is Market Square and the Glass Menajerie. O, the Woodlands Waterway is also a great spot.

There's also the golf courses that can serve as good backdrops. I use one on Cochrans Crossing that has a small bridge with water sprinklers in the middle of the lake. There are many photographers that use this same area for wedding photos.

the walking paths are also great because they're canopied with foliage, 100 miles or so of them. You just have to find the one you like best. I use several with winding paths. When you have time come out and scout it out.

Or send me a PM and I'd be happy to show you around.
