Thank you! - 11-03-2006, 01:10 PM

My wife is an avid quilter but doesn't get around so good any more so your quilt show photos were a BIG hit with her. Thanks so much for sharing. I really like your borders. Would you share your technique?

Thanks again,
Murry

hey guys...im certainly not trying to hijack this thread or make a plug, im just trying to provide an additional link that i think you guys might appreciate - especially if you are into quilts.

Personally, i dont know the first thing about them. What i DO know tho, is that I have an Aunt who is evidently pretty big in the quilting world....she's been on HGTV a few times even. She does something called thread-painting i think. Again, have no idea what that means - but if you are interested, here is a link to her site:

that's really cool blongoy -

sometimes i miss quilting - sometimes i don't...i have a closet stacked and stacked with fabrics - but photography has all of my attention these days.

Murry - it's a long forgotten action that i had - acs flexible frames - they have a ton of good stuff on their site - i was looking for a way to distinguish my "real" photos from the ones i put online - as sometimes i re-download my own images when i send them to someone in an IM (i don't usually store the web sized on my computer at all) - and anyway - to make a long story short - i thought i shoudl border anything that goes on the internet - that way i'd know easily without checking size of a file.

see, i'm a fairly sloppy file keeper all month long - i have a folder on my desktop - where i store ABSOLUTELY everything - zip files, exe's, pdf's, jpegs, etc - and it's actually organized, but at the end of the month - i send it all to where it belongs on various different hd's - and then make a backup of that folder. so there are often times i get "real" files and web files in the same desktop folder - waiting to be processed or tucked away where they belong - anyway...nuff bout that...

check out shutterfreak.com - they are only $20 but they have a good variety

That looks like a lot of work (the quilting). I wouldn't have nearly enough patience to do something like that...

Nice photographs, Janet!

Unhappy Tickets - 11-04-2006, 09:03 AM

Well, we have 2 tickets for both Sat/Sun at GBR, but illness prevents us using them. Anyone in the Austin area that wants use of any of these tickets to the quilt show, I will drive to meet you half way (withing the 100mi radius around the capitol). I will stay home and care as much as I can for my darling wife.

I see your aunt is a Bernina person. While I missed that episode, that's a great show, even for non-quilters. The host, Alex Anderson, works for Bernina, and I have had the pleasure of attending several events she's hosted, she's one of their top executives, and very talented. You need to be very proud of your aunt. Thread painting takes lots of talent, it's a free hand style of machine embroidery, a type of laying down thread with a machine without the help of a programed design. Yes, actually "painting" with thread. BTW, today on this show they had a professional photographer as the guest instructing how to get quality shots of quilts.
