Personally, i dont know the first thing about them. What i DO know tho, is that I have an Aunt who is evidently pretty big in the quilting world....she's been on HGTV a few times even. I see your aunt is a Bernina person. While I missed that episode, that's a great show, even for non-quilters. The host, Alex Anderson, works for Bernina, and I have had the pleasure of attending several events she's hosted, she's one of their top executives, and very talented. You need to be very proud of your aunt. Thread painting takes lots of talent, it's a free hand style of machine embroidery, a type of laying down thread with a machine without the help of a programed design. Yes, actually "painting" with thread. BTW, today on this show they had a professional photographer as the guest instructing how to get quality shots of quilts.
