I think my plans have been finalized and I will be out on Alan Parkway for the 4th of July fireworks show.
Im not sure If I will get down there during the day as I will be at a party just off Alan parkway at a friend house
Anyone else going to be in this area for the 4th?

We're going to a 4th celebration in Humble tonight to watch a friend's band play with their fireworks afterward, and tomorrow night we'll be at the celebration here in Friendswood. I've always wanted to go watch the big fireworks display downtown, but never want to deal with the traffic to do so.

We were thinking of going, but I wasn't sure where would be a good location for photos, that's not too difficult to get to. I'm not interested in the festival itself, just fireworks photos at night. Anyone have any ideas?

I grew up in Houston, Westheimer & Chimney Rock, over by the Galleria........I moved away 10 years ago but still remember the traffic....When I was running around during the week, I made sure I was on my side of town by 3pmish so I would not get caught in the traffic........ :) Hope y'all get some great shots tomorrow!!

unfortunatelly there is not a close place to park. you have to park a ways away then walk. Luckily a friend of mine lives near there. So we get to her house at 3 PM for a party, then we all walk down about 9:15 to see the show. We go back to her place and cool off and continue the party and wait for traffic to die down.
I just set up on Alan Parkway just west of the fireworks show. Near where the Channel 11 tower is.

So did anyone shoot the big show? I thought about going downtown, but the thought of the traffic, crowd and heat convinced me to stay home. So as a result of my extraordinary dedication to my photography hobby, I ended up with zero images! Guess that teaches me a lesson.

yes I did, I just got my pics uploaded.
before you look at em I know there are some well over exposed shots (the last few) and there is a very annoying street light in most of them. I know there are some problems with all the photos, but these are just the ones I put on the web. Ok ok, so there are 1 or 3 that are good http://www.nightshooter.com/D60/Nigh...h05/index.html

Some great shots there.
Much better than any I had.
I walked down from a friend's party in the 6th ward (between Memorial & Washington) to a place near the old hotel on Memorial (now an old folks home) and set up about 10 minutes before the show began. Unfortunatly when the shots started, I realized I was too close and had my 70-200 on, and at 70 had a lot of cropped shots.
Plus got rained on by alot of particles and plugs.

nice shots J, I don't feel so bad now. I went to Katy Mills and a few of mine were over exposed as well because of a street light, but this was my first time shooting so overall i think i did OK, I'll post later tonight..... | | | |
