Warning - Sams Club Photo Center on 59 & Rice - 09-07-2007, 11:21 AM

Just a word of warning. They no longer do 8x10s.

I just received a call for an order I sent in last night for pickup today, and they told me that their location does not do 8x10s. I exclaimed shock, since I had a dozen 8x10s printed there last month. The drone said something about them trying to fix it but they can't, so they don't do them anymore. Reportedly other locations still do it.

Sam's is not the best, as they can't/won't turn off auto color correction, but for $1.50 I use them for quickies and proofs.
Luckily the one at Westheimer & Dunvale is convenient to my work, so I placed an order there and will have a later lunch to pick them up.

It's be nice if the 59/Rice location would disable that option on the online order form.

Bit peeved at Sam's and wishing Costco was location convenient.

I think it all depends on the operator. Quite too often they are minimum wage idjuts.

When I use the Sam's at Willowbrook, they will turn off the auto correction. I did get to know the tech's though and they know me by name. I hate it though when they bring in someone new who doesn't know me.

The Sam's at Great Southwest and I-20 in DFW does pretty good, too... again, don't like sending my final products there, but if I need proofs or something in a hurry, they do a good job. Like Bill, I know them by name and they know me... wave and a smile every time I'm there whether or not its for photos goes a long way to getting them to remember you, too.

Their kiosks for setting up your prints have an option to turn off the auto correct, even... don't have to get the tech to do it. I'm surprised it isn't that way at all the Sam's stores.

Michael,

They use an Epson on anything bigger than 8x10, do you know what they use?

I picked up the shots yesterday and they came out mostly fine (one out of five was a little to corrected for my tastes). The tech did say they will turn off the autocorrect, but you have to ask. And there's no way to do that by sending it to them via the web.

That is mostly true, but if you know the people working there and they know you by name, you might be able to call the store when you send something by web, and tell them you just sent some files and would they please turn off auto. My store will do this, but you have to call before they start processing the files. For me, it just easier to go to the store and not have to worry about it.
