Howdy all,
The Houston Photochrome Club is having their monthly meeting this coming Thursday (July 14). You can check out their website for more info:

Visitors are most welcome to attend. The meeting starts promptly at 7pm, and usually lasts until 8:30 to 8:45pm. These monthly meetings take place at the Tracy Gee Community Center, located at 3599 Westcenter Drive (Houston, TX).
I joined this club last February, and have attended 3 meetings so far. I'll be there this coming Thursday, probably with a Texas Photo Forum t-shirt on :-)
Some ramblings about the club:
It's a great place to interact with other pro and amateur photographers. The first half of the meeting is usually a presentation from a member or guest speaker. It typically involves showing loads of great photos.
The second half of the meeting is the club competition, were members have their submitted photos judged. The competition is just a slide show (both real slides and digital), and you can sit back and see some wonderful photography!
If you're interested in bettering you photographic skills, a great thing to do is to study the photos of others and interact with other photographers (probably the reason why you're reading this forum ! :-) The HPCS club meetings is a perfect place to do this in person!
The average age of the group is a little older :-) But just so you know, these people are very enthusiastic about photography and they have an enormous wealth of experience. And they are more than happy to share and help! New and young members are needed and welcome ;-)
