Strobist Style Photographer Meetup in The Galleria area week of 4/18-23

OK, so here I am, this New Yawka down in HTown for a while with tons of new and interesting places to shoot, new people to meet and new techniques to try....so, let's get to it:
What:
Let's meet up one evening near the Galleria and shoot/share ideas. This will be for all experience levels with the goal of sharing ideas and work flow on seeing creatively, advanced flash techniques, and working a location/subject.
Are you a fan of Joe McnNally, Zack Aria or Dave Hobby (AKA The Strobist)? Then this is for you.
When:
Depends upon a consensus of potential attendees, but one evening between Friday April 17th and Thursday April 23rd. Figure 6:30PM until folks get tired.
Where:
I am stuck in the Galleria area and there seems to be quite a few interesting places between McCue and Post Oak to shoot, so the thought is to wander through 3-6 locations on a short walk.
What should you bring:
A thirst for knowledge, a passion to share what you know and sense of adventure. Any type of camera with a flash will do. If you have a DSLR with an off camera flash, that is better.
Cost:
Just your time.

Skill Level
Area of interest (Are you a wedding shooter, casual amateur, you shoot pictures of pets...what ever you like to shoot, just to get a consensus of who we are as a group.
Preferred date and back up date of meet
How many people in your party
Brand of gear...Nikon, Canon, ect. Just good to get an idea of what we have.

What are the Gotcha's?
Due to the fast timing of this meetup, and my total lack of knowing model talent in the area, we don't have any models. So, prepare to be shot. We each have to take a turn playing model. You want a new headshot for your FaceBook account? This is your chance.
We will be walking from location to location. Some are 100 feet apart, some are a block apart. You should be comfortable and mobile. Don't bring too much gear.

Definite interest on my part. It's a shame there's such short notice. If you'd give more time, we could work something out with One Talent Source models and do a TFP meet.
This sounds like fun. Parking garages and alleys look really cool on Dave Hobby's site.
I shoot Canon. Skill level, uh, beginner type, but not ignorant I guess? I like to shoot whatever I get my hands on.

edit: Yikes! OpenSourcePhoto?! Everyone over there is so talented I have yet to even register! It's so intimidating!

Edit 2: Saturday or sunday evening would be ideal for me, but the Galleria is going to be CROWDED NAAAASTY at those times...hmm...

I am sure the folks on OSP will appreciate your kind words. Let me tell you something about OSP....I lurked for a few months, then joined. No cost.
I have met some amazing people, learned TONS and even been able to help a few folks. I even bumped into David Jay at the Photo Plus Expo in NYC this year. And I want to yell from the rooftops...the mantra of OSP is to treat everyone with respect, there are NO stupid questions, and those who know more have a responsibility to teach those who know less and wish to learn.

As for the talent, there are all levels there and much like TPF folks are welcoming of all, but search the forum first. And DON'T fall the the infamous If this works marketing thread. 45 pages of sign me up, to realize it is a dead post that has become a funny joke.

I am open for the weekend. :-) I am a newbie and want to learn as much as I can. :-) Plus, my D90 just arrived so I am learning all the new bells and whistles compared to my D40.
I dont have a problem being shot, lol. I'm used to being put on the spot. :-) Also, if you need a ride to go to places, hit me up in exchange for some photo tricks. ;-)

Saturday April 18th through Thursday April 22 are excellent for me. Evenings best. Anytime will do. I am so there. Just give me a date and time, so I can schedule some babysitting.

In reference to the gottchas - I am pregnant, so maybe it could be fun to get a few maternity shots for bonus. It could help some portfolios. However, I'm not a model and just got a real bad haircut. But hey, I don't have much photo knowledge to share, so if this is the only way I can help, I'll play.

Skill Level - not very technical, but trying to get way better.

Area of interest - very flexible. Do lots of portraits. Interested in some high school sport stuff.

Preferred date and back up date of meet - Like I said, pretty much any time, I can be there. I'll make it happen. The only bad time is Sat. April 18th from 10-12. I think it would be rude not to show up for a baby shower for my baby. I could skip, but they notice when the mom and baby don't come! Sunday is only good from noon to 3ish.

How many people in your party - Me and maybe I could talk 2 others in to coming if you can tell me a date and time soon.
