That'll be a fun event to shoot.
What time does it start? And btw, is it on the same place every year?

9th Annual Dragon Boat Festival
Saturday, May 2, 2009
8:30am - 4:30pm
Allen's Landing - Downtown Houston

Welcome to the thrilling sport of dragon boat racing! We are entering our 9th year paddling at the birthplace of Houston – Allen's Landing in downtown.

You can expect over 30 teams racing throughout the day with colorful entertainment, educational cultural booths, delicious cuisine, and fun games for kids and adults alike.

If you are not paddling as part of a team, then you are missing out on a truly wonderful experience. Check our sponsorship opportunities for how you can get involved.

Maps and parking will be updated closer to the event. We are working with METRO and other parking garages for your convenience.

Space is limited for sponsorship. We look forward to seeing you there

No, I don't. I have a 2x but it's far away.

I knew there was a reason why I should bring the Canon stuff to Houston. Rats!

Shot it a few years ago for In Town magazine.

Bring a wide angle for some shots of the boats on land or sitting in the water - they are loooong.
And a "normal" portrait lens for the people there (28-75 or so), you'll have costumed dancers, martial arts, maybe a celebrity or two.

I did my "action" shots of the boats with a 28-75, 70-200 and 100-400. Since the mag was looking for more "overall" shots, I did not use the long glass as much.
