Royal Gorge Shot, IR vs Color - 07-29-2009, 01:25 PM

I just got back from CO and hope to find some decent shots to share.

One of my favs, modified A100, no photoshop and very very mild histogram adjustment in IDC and the similar shot with the A900:

Very cool. You and I have to get together one day and compare editing notes. All my CO shots are just quick IDC histgram adjustments so far. I plan on downloading the DxO and LR demos and going wild with them. hahah

I like it the shot, it's a neat perspective and I like where you placed the focus point (in the IR version). I normally prefer monochrome for IR, but the warm tones here work well. I like the IR version.

Careful. That bridge looks like it's fixing to topple over! :-)

I like the IR version better, partly because the focus point is back further, but the warm tones look nice as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I have only done quick editing so far, and the orange tones are how I get them in camera. I like it in some cases, like this one. I had been taking the photos into PS next and trying monochrome and color changes but haven't yet on this latest batch. I like teh rust tinge to this one. It seems to fit a very old bridge.

Grant,

OK first I use PS does not matter which version...and do a channel swap...

Red and Blue...usually on IR shots the RED channel red 0% and Blue 100% and the Blue channel Red 100% and Blue 0%...so I swap those two...Red channel red 100% (in this case 115%) and the Blue is 0% Blue channel Red 0% and Blue 100% (in this case 107%)
Then I save it as JPG high Resolution file...

Next is Nikon NSX2 I did the histogram adjustment...and a few other adjustments in NSX2...then save it as a JPG about 1/2 size....

Hope this helps....

I tried doing the color channel swap in PSE5, but all I can do in that is Hue adjustments. Now that I finally got a new comp I can start dabbling in software.
