Hanging Roses - 05-24-2010, 02:39 PM

A shot of drying roses, hanging right next to the blue bottle. Same tech stuff as the blue bottle except that I used a Jupiter-9, 85mm lens, wide open on the 40D. I love the character of the older Russian Primes.

Thanks much, it's the afore mentioned Russian Prime. The Jupiter 9 has an extremely narrow DOF (wide open) making it a great portrait lens. It's a copy, and a good one, of a Zeiss Sonnar design.
They are on ebay pretty inexpensively.

Nice photo Jules, are you using a filter with that lens?

Thanks and yes; (Clear Glass converted 40D) an orange Cokin Filter (#704 in their catalogue I think). (Green WB)
