You're getting there. When you begin experimenting more in post processing is when you'll tease more "color" out of these files. If you're not already, you should try shooting in RAW and using a converter to adjust exposure, white balance, tone, etc. Convert the RAW files to TIFF files, then use PhotoShop to begin to really tweak the colors in the IR photos.

Keep on, keepin' on.

Thank you, Bruce!!

I adjusted the white balance in the camera (not sure if this makes a difference with RAW) and shoot in RAW. I usually do auto white balance for normal photos. Finished in Photoshop then Nik Color Efex, Nik Define. I definitly need a lot more practice with the tools to figure out how much to tweak. This is a lot more experimental than normal photos.

I am suprised by what the colors come out looking like. The cows were white/cream originally and came out pink. There were TONS of flies on them that showed up as black dots. I took those out in Photoshop to retain their beauty (otherwise sad looking cows).

Not sure if it is because I am used to using a 7D for normal photos, but the noise seems to be a lot more than expected with the converted camera. Is that just the nature of IR? When I tried IR before with a filter, a longer exposure was needed and thought that was where the noise was coming from. Also just realized the first two posted were shot at ISO 640... oops .

I still need to work on my in-camera exposure learning where to place the balance of the shot in the histogram for the desired effect.

Cannot wait to find more subjects to experiment with. I leave for Big Bend tomorrow for a fun filled week of lots of practice.

Thank you for letting play with it...I really liked the tree picture...

Now a few things I noticed....you have a slight hot-spot with that lens...around the bark at the base of the tree it is noticeable...you need to MF this lens...it is slightly front-focused with your IR conversion...I corrected it a little-bit in the image....but really play with it a little...Some settings...use full manual mode...dial up your F-Stop a little...to around f6.5 to f8 also don't shoot at ISO640 try to stay around 160 to 250 outside less noise...your shutter speed was 1/3200 might want to try that around 1/1600 if the image is a little darker don't worry you can always lighten it up...if you bump your F-Stop and bring down your ISO your front-focus might disappear and your hot spot will be less noticeable....

Play around with the camera like you have been doing....Good Stuff...!!!

Thank you again for letting me play...!!!

I nearly always shoot AP at f8 or f9 with my 350D and really do not notice an focus problems, except those introduced by the guy pressing the button.
