Bruce's latest reminded me of this shot I did a while back. I was still playing with my then new modified camera in PSE.

Great house for this kind of treatment. Looks as if your lens might have a mild hotspot.

It does. I think this was my 24-70 Zeiss. I typically use a 24mm Minolta now that I LOVE and has NO hotspots.

Hotspot - 09-06-2011, 09:50 PM

Bruce:

I am finding IR very interesting and possibly going that route in the future. Exactly what is meant by a hotspot related to a lens? In the photos above is it the bright area in the tree branches in the upper right?

Thanks in advance.

Some lenses show a bright center spot, typically due to lens coatings or design. It looks like a low contrast, almost flare like spot, typically dead center.

Michael...Google...IR hotspots with Canon Lenses....and you will find a wealth of knowledge about the ones to use...

My observation on two systems....Sony & Nikon...No two lenses are the same...I have one f4 Beercan for my Sony system that has a big hotspot whereas, my other f4 beercan does not...can not explain this...(not smart-enough)...just is...

Good Luck...would love to see your work...

No. 3 is really an unusual photo. Would like it ever better if that pipe was not in the foreground. So bright that it takes away from the rest of the shot. Nice work.

Thanks. I agree on the pipe. It was the best shot to get than angle on the house without trespassing, but it does bug me anyway.
