Critique: NC:

The previously posted Pollock-Capps and Ball-Edelman-McFarland Houses situated adjacent to one another in what was once known as the "swanky" Quality Hill Neighborhood of Fort Worth.

Smile Swayne House - 06-16-2011, 04:03 PM

The last in my recent series of old Fort Worth houses in IR B&W:

The Swayne House built in 1899 is another of the very few that remain from the Quality Hill neighborhood -- a 1 1/2 story Queen Anne Victorian that features many different roof forms.

Very nice tonal quality. Are you shooting with a converted camera, if so which one and what conversion? I like the sharpness as many IR images seemed soft to me.

All the recent B&W's were taken with a Nikon D40 converted by LifePixel with an 830nm internal filter which eliminates all visible light and produces great B&W contrast.

However, even these files straight from the camera suffer from IR's intrinsic greater softness and noise. I primarily use PhotoShop and Nik's Silver Efex Pro to process my IR B&W's.

Love the architecture shots. The IR is really great for that and you sure find great subjects. Love the lines on the house in #2.
