The park as a whole looked very beautiful. I wasn't able to spend as much time there as I'd have liked, but I did get these:

Great - 11-25-2011, 05:16 AM

Great captures over all. I love the feel to them in IR. The only thing I didn't like is the vignetting and the blown out sky in the third photo.

I like the composition of the shot #2....you could do a lot with false color and that picture....if you give me the OK I'd love to take a swing at it... -Already been yelled at this month for editing a picture w/out asking...

Steve
I appreciate your comment, and agree, the blown out sky was an oddity in the IR world. However, when it's cloudy, that happens. The vignetting on all three is an effect of the 8mm peleng fisheye. Hey, for $170 I couldn't complain!

I bought an old D60 on FM for $250. It's an IR only filter, but I'm unsure of the cut-off frequency, as it was pre-installed. However, since LifePixel has conversions on sale for $250, I would highly recommend having them do it on a Rebel T1i or 40D, at the least, since with IR you will really appreciate having live-view for your manual focusing needs. With this D60 and an L lens that has IR markings, it's still pretty hit-and-miss with the focus. This Peleng 8mm and the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS II @ 200mm do a pretty good job. I can usually get other lenses and focal-lengths to work with focus bracketing, but I hate putting any extra actuations on this 10-year-old shutter!

i really love the 2nd one. the 1st one is great too. great compositions. they might do best if converted to monochrome.

and i don't mind the vignette.

Lifepixel says that the Nikon 18-200 and 18-70 DX plays nicely without focus calibration throughout the focal range. Im coming back to the states on Monday and will start looking for a D2x and 18-200 VR to convert to Lifepixels Super Color Enhancer IR. Cant wait to play with IR again. : )

Very cool. I really like the first 2. They have a good foreboding feel to them. Unlike Tony's color I'd probably go B&W, although I do like his take on it too.
