Wow thats a casual Ferry boat operator..OURS have to dress up in uniforms.. Ill try to get a pic of one..we are headed to One of the islands for supper this week.. Im shooting for a sunset.. via the FERRY!! I like the second one Andrea.. its almost a negative feel..

There is only room for 2 cars or one large truck...small operation for a small river town.

This Ferry is a cable ferry, and therefore it's more like operating a horizontal elevator than piloting a boat. The ferry is attached to a cable (or two) and just goes back and forth along the cable.

You are right Captain Tom. The cables are visible in my first post. Sure was a nice
"cable" ride.

I have a lot of experience with this type of Ferry.
I piloted a tour boat on the Hudson River, Erie Canal, and Lake Champlain.
When these cable ferries are operationg, you have to make sure you don't snag the cable as you pass behind them. The cable is pretty heavy, and drops to the bottom pretty quickly (usually), but we always stayed clear. Brings back some fond memories.
