Great series Jerry. Tells the story. I also prefer the IR.

Those are "Red Rider" Daisy BB guns. Daisy sponsored the boat.

All of the boats have some type of device, usually a couple of plain steel rods to keep the cable from catching on the motor when they take off.

In the pictures you can see that they have a cable strung across the lake. The boat drivers hold on to the cable and move the boat along it until they get in position to make their run. When they take off, they let go of the cable, and the boat/motor need to be able to slide under it.

You really caught some fast IR action. Good job.

I remember ten years ago and I was first teaching on the TCC campus (Northwest) next to that lake, they told me they had drag boat races on that little body of water; I did not believe them....BUT they sure do.
