Thanks for the warm welcome....Im going to check out Camera Coop this weekend and some other places.

Does anyone have a preferred site to rent lenses from?

Im thinking of renting a 70-300mm for my trip to Seattle if I dont get the 55-200mm

Did you get it at the Coop? What lenses did you decide on?

No, I had a coupon for Best Buy that I forgot about. I got the kit lens and the 55-200mm VR too. Also bought a tripod, memory cards and camera bag.

Welcome! I'm in Houston as well and I also shoot with the D5000. I love it and so far I have no complaints with it.

If you're looking for classes, check out Leisure Learning Unlimited | Adult/Continuing Education Classes In Houston. They have great classes and are pretty well priced (in my opinion).

Welcome to the forum. I was looking at the D5000, but settle on the D90. I'm sure you will have as much fun with your new camera as I have with mine. Happy shooting!!

When I get back from my trip I will def post some pictures. Right now I am trying to decide between the Nikkor 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8. I like both focal lenghts but am unsure of how bothered I will be about the 50mm not auto-focusing on my D5000. Its only a $65 price difference though.
