I'm new to the forums as well as the whole photography scene in general. I have been wanting to get a DSLR for sometime now and finally did thanks to a forum member giving me a great deal on a 50D and two lens'.

Welcome to the Forum Aaron. The 50D is my 2nd DSLR and it's been terrific. Unsolicited advice: read every page of the manual with the 50D sitting next to you. I didn't do that with my 1st DSLR and should have.
