hello from baytown - 03-06-2010, 09:46 PM

Hello everyone. I am new to photography and found yall on a web search. I am like a sponge right now, soaking up all the info I can find. I moved this past Monday to Baytown on the very road that the eagles are and thought what a stroke of luck, I went and bought a camera and here I am, lol...Just wanted to say hi from Baytown. Keep taking beautiful pictures....

Hi. So glad you are where all the action is. Maybe you can give us an update on those eaglets. Welcome from Hitchcock.

Michele, welcome to the forum, there are several from here that hang out over there at the eagle site or at Baytown Nature Center. Hope you learn a lot and enjoy it here.

We live just around the corner from the trailer park. Heck, we probably know each other. I'm the one with the horses and all the chickens. LOL

Ah yea!! I remember you...hehe. Seriously, I had the hardest time dealing with those skeeters there, and Ive been in TX all my life. I couldn't even walk my dogs, they would be swarming all over them and me...sorry, had to rant about that...:) nice to meet you Sandy. Heck I'm staying on a canal here in Baytown, in a couple weeks or so I'm sure I'll meet those Hitchcock skeeters' cousins here too lol..

Where are those eagles? - 03-07-2010, 01:10 PM

Is this private property? I've heard others say they see groups of people under some tree. I live in Kemah and sure would like an eagle shot for my port folio.
I assuming it is not that far from the large bridge?

I have to drive by there to get anywhere, and today there were lots of people there. You can just stand in front of the golf course (there is a chain link fence) across the street from the birds. The male had apparently taken off early this morning (according to one man whom I've seen there every time I drive by) and the female was just sitting on the nest, she looks over at the people quite frequently (or in that direction). All you can see is her big head (she's really something!!) I don't know much about them yet, but she seems fluffier around the head than he does...? I live about 2 1/2 miles down the road, i'm trying to figure out how to get back and forth there while my husband is at work. I guess I'll have to walk (OH NO!!) lol...better get my walking shoes brushed off..It's just still unreal to me to have bald eagles here!

OK, I am having trouble d/l the camera pics into my laptop. The computer says it is d/l the driver software, etc..then it says it cannot successfully do it. Im wondering if its because I have Windows Vista (which I hate!) it does not work correctly, anytime I try to download anything, Vista will not do it. Grrr. Im gonna keep trying, think Im gonna have to upgrade to Win 7. Nobody seems to have any trouble with that.

How are you trying to download them, through the camera or a card reader.
