Howdy from the Hill Country - 03-17-2010, 09:04 AM

Howdy, folks, from a new/old member. Joined TPF several years ago at the invite of a fellow member, but have just recently gotten into reading the forums and have really enjoyed them. There are some wonderful photographers here and a wealth of information. Kudos to Abel for a great site.

Figured it was way past time to introduce myself, so ... name's Bob … Texas born ... oil-field raised. You know what that means ... we moved around ... a lot. Home's on Tiki Island (near Galveston), but we retired about 3 years ago, rented out the house and began traveling in our RV. Currently in Kerrville and love the Hill Country.

Got interested in photography in the late 60s, shooting film with a Pentax SLR, but still fairly new to digital. I mainly enjoy fishing, traveling and taking photos of landscapes, old buildings, wildlife and other pics of places as we travel. When I grow up I hope to progress beyond using this sucker as an expensive point and shoot and take a few good photographs.

A few snapshots of things I enjoy shooting.

Palace of the Governors, Santa Fe, NM

Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde NP, CO

Rock Squirrel, CO

Skillet Glacier, Mount Moran, Grand Teton NP, WY

Yellowstone River, Hayden Valley, YNP, WY

Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

Bob

Thanks, everyone.

Mike, New Mexico (and the Santa Fe area) are definitely worth a trip. There is so much history, culture, old buildings and churches, art, monuments, parks and scenery in that area; it would be hard not to find something to love or to shoot. And the food is pretty special as well!
