Hello from Katy

[The Grind]

My name is Doug Johnson I own/run the website called The Grind with my partner Troy Schlegel. We cover high school sports in the Katy area. I have always liked taking pictures but never invested in good camera's. I started shooting for a company that is no longer in business (also covering sports) and really begin to have a passion for shooting sports. My favorite sport to shoot is football because there is great action in just about every shot. I have been meaning to join this website for a while and I kept letting it slip my mind. Abel I am not here to spam your forum just to learn and network with other photogs.

ps. We will be looking for some part time people to help cover all of the football and volleyball games coming up this fall. There are 10 schools we want to cover and 9 of them have both sports. Applicants must be trust worthy, willing to learn how to shoot sports from the sidelines and have own equipment. You will be asked to submit at least 200 prime photos a game 85% action 5% fans, 5% cheerleaders, 5% marching band and dance squad. You will be responsible for cropping for best shot and uploading all photos the same day of the game. You will gain free access to the game and pressbox. Pay will be determined by experience. We are not looking to hire hi dollar pro photographers but rather part timers who want extra experience for a few extra bucks.

We will only cover a Sugarland school if they play a Katy area school for now. Its hard enough covering all the sports for 10 schools.

Take this weekend for example, their are 7 Katy ISD schools playing on Thursday, Friday and Sat. in the baseball and softball playoffs.

We will branch out one day as money allows.

When and where? This weekend being Mother's Day weekend, I might be tied up - we typically do a family get-together, sometimes on Saturday to avoid the crowds on Sunday. If I'm free, I'd definitely like to help out. I'll let you know a little later in the week once the family plans get fleshed out.
