Hey everyone! - 05-19-2010, 12:50 PM

Hello from Romania [ Europe ], you're probably wondering " what is he doing posting here? ". Well... next month around this time I should be in Houston for about 4 months and I'm very excited about that. I've read your forum as much as I could this days and I have to say you have a wonderful community here, hope you will not mind the presence of a "outsider".

So this would not be a boring post here is a link on flickr to some photos made by me Flickr: Razvan Tulai's Photostream.

Thank you,
Razvan

Popawalker, I have many more, but it would'nt be "on topic" let's say :D... I'm confident that I will have a lot to photograph in Houston and surroundings ( just not sure right now of how much free time I will have ).

Photobyleal: Photography meet-ups sounds fun :D almost can't wait.

Thank you for the warm welcome

Actually if I had it all to do over again I would be all over the place, after seeing Kiev in
'03 I realized traveling to Europe or actually anywhere is the way to go.

Well, I did'nt visit Europe... I barely visited my country although is really small... but I can certanly tell you even here you have a LOT to see, not to mention countries like Germany and Italy ( I don't think a lifetime is enough to see all there is ).

Well everything is almost done ( paperwork ) and the arrival date is approaching I was wondering if there is anyone who would have a little time for a few questions about houston ( rent / phone carriers ) :D.

I would appreciate the help!

Rent = about 850-1000 a month for a decent one bedroom apt. That will get you about 650-900 sq ft and possible a washer and dryer in the apt. You can get cheaper if you dint mind living in a less than desirable part of town in older apts. Either way, I would highly recommend renter insurance. In fact some of the nicer apts seem to require it.

Phone carriers, google is your friend.

I was asking about phone carriers because in europe we can change sims with no problems on our phones, but someone told me that it's a little different in the US... prepay sims are not that ok and that there are phones you use one month or something like that ?!

Studio apartment is ok :D, the only thing is that it would be nice to be near the galleria, im guessing the rent is more expensive around there? my google friend found some "incredible" prices 300-400$ but they were not so clear if that was per month or week

300-400 a month would be in a scary part of town if that is a per month rent...
