Howdy, again. - 11-25-2010, 11:04 PM

Hello again. I joined the forum years ago and am now just coming back.

You see, I had 'discovered' this great model back in the summer of 2007. Natural at it. Stunning eyes, and an incredible body. Her dream was to be in Playboy. Nicest person you'd ever meet. We finally got to sit down and really look at the first shots we were doing to do for her online portfolio in the middle of that October. A few test shots I sent out of her were getting sincere interest by the photographers who saw them.

Couldn't get hold of her for a few weeks. A few days before Xmas her Mom answers the phone. She had been a passenger in a car where the driver refused to give up the keys. She was killed on impact as the car rolled after flipping coming from 6th street. By coincidence, happened the night of my birthday.

Middle of January, 2008. I'm going to another model friend's house to do a shoot of her. Roommate answers the door and says to be quiet, she had just got back from the hospital. She'd been raped the night before. I got home, put the equipment in a hall closet, and forgot I ever owned it.

May of 2009, Dad asks if I can do a group portrait of the whole family on Mother's Day since he's rented out a place for our lunch. I really want no part of photography. I dust off the equipment, literally, and decide to jump back on the horse. Instead of the shoot, we buried my cousin's daughter Sarah the next week after she drowned on Mother's Day weekend.

Now a friend from high school comes to me a few weeks back and asks if I still shoot. I haven't fired a shot since December of 2007. He's got a business plan, and a pretty good one with a unique marketing angle. I opened the closet, the equipment is still there. I ordered a few books. Mom asked me what I wanted for Xmas, I pointed her to a few things at B&H.

I'm going to try one more time to find beauty in the world of photography.

Thank you, that is all.

Oh, I'm past that. Sitting down through the entire business plan knowing that I was behind the lens was the first part. The second through fifth parts were starting to look at new photos here and elsewhere and then breaking them down for light placement, looking at composition, posing, and whatnot.

There's a definite level of excitement again.
