newbie here

Hi all,

I am a semi-newbie to professional photography, and am very anxious to throw myself into the fun. I'll be looking to purchase some new equipment and learn some tricks from you all. I've heard great things about this site and community and can't wait to rekindle my love with photography :)

might I add that I definitely have the compositional skills of photography, but I know that I am lacking on the technical side. I use a Canon Rebel XT and definitely know that I need to upgrade in order to be more serious. I also am pondering which lenses should be purchased, and am thinking a 50mm is a must!

Any thoughts?

It is only my personal preference here, as rules once understood can be broken, that you limit your selection to those that will fit the camera.

Of course, if you can obtain them legally without spending any money, chances are that will be a better deal...

Actually, the question is loaded beyond the previous. What kind of photography do you wish to focus on, if you will pardon the pun?
