Hello I'm a full time student and wannabe photographer. My father was an amateur photographer and we had a darkroom in the house. My roommate years ago was/is a commercial photographer and I played helper.

Now I guess it's my turn. I have always taken snapshots on my journey's and drove my friends nuts while I tried to get the light just right. Now I'm enrolled at Sac City College and have a DSLR class. Most of my portfolio is point and shoot but now I hope to improve on my 'keeper' percentage.

Thanks,

Carl

Welcome to the site Carl. I too am a student and am going to major in Art in the photography program at San Diego State. Right now I'm still in community college. Looking forward to seeing your work!

I see my avatar made it up. I was getting an upload failed window.

I'm still learning the ropes here. As soon as I've figured it out I'll post something.

Can I upload from my hard drive or do I need a URL?

You can attach a photo but after you reach the limit you will never ever be able to again. URL your photos but try to keep the size down for those who don't have T1. Long side of 800 ought to do it.
Welcome

Welcome
I pasted the URL from flickr into dialog box but noting came up. When you say there is a maximum upload. What is that referring too, so many lifetime MBs?

Lets see if I can get it.
Bad flickr link. View the image in full size on flicker (right click, view image) then paste that url into the dialog box when clicking the picture box in the reply box. or paste this into that box. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/...3c27706692.jpg
You have to view the image just by itself on a web page.

Thanks but what worked? I didn't have anything in my posts so I don't know how to do it again. I'm a bit confused but I think you are telling me that while at flickr I need to isolate the pic in it's own window and use flickrs HTML discription. I'll try that.

Thanks! Life just got better. I'm too old for learning curves :-) This shot came out better than expected it was the first shot through that kit lens at f5.6 250mm hand held near sunset which I'll post next.

This was the next shot through my side view mirror. You can see the grass in the background next to the mirror.

Well, it looks like you don't need my help now. :p

Welcome to the forum Carl.

If it's not raining (and it's supposed to be), I'll be heading up to Old Town Sac on Monday morning for a few hours to do a little shooting(my plans for today got foiled).
What is your schedule like? :w00t:

---------------------------
Some people hunt with a gun. I use a Canon.
My Smugmug page.
Some days you're the windshield. Other days you're the bug.

I'm open Monday morning. What time? Any specific objective? BTW my ducks were shot just across the river next to the causeway. It's called the Vic Fazio Wildlife Preserve. Exit on the west side and go over the levee. Washboard road will rattle your teeth out.
