Hi from the UK... - 06-15-2011, 01:39 PM

Hello,

Apologies for dipping into your wonderful website. I'm a Brit, based in the UK. I've been to the USA many times and am back in TX for a road trip next month. I usually travel with a very stripped down Nikon camera kit consisting of prime lenses when abroad.

I'm a news photographer, but have done most photographic jobs known to man! Love to travel and I really enjoy the States, everyone is so friendly and the landscape is so varied and stunning, i always end up taking way too many pictures my wife cares for. Yes i have been known to leave her in a motel while i am photographing long exposures at 3am of star trails in the desert!

Best regards
Ben

See, I did say you Yanks are a friendly bunch! Thanks for the welcome.

How do I like the food in TX? Love it of course. The menu all across the States varies so much as you travel. However I have to say that I do like the Mexican influence.

Stephen, I'm flying in and out of Houston. I have no plans other than to see Big Bend and explore Pecos county. Two weeks of exploration and photographing my travels - lovely! I'm sure I'll be passing by some of you guys if you want to buy me lunch!,.. Lol

So what does everyone shoot? Favourite subjects?

Cheers
Ben

HA, not all yanks are friendly just the Texas bunch .

You should let us know when you might be in town. We have quite a large Houston influence here so feel free to ask any questions about the city.

Big Bend is a brilliant place to visit for holiday. I have done many geologic studies there during my studies at university. If feel you will not be disappointed.

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris, I've never had the desire to do the East coast USA and never been, but i can say for sure that all the bits in between there and LA are super friendly. More so than Europe!

I know very little about Houston, i guess it gets overlooked by some of us Brits by Austin and DFW, but that will make any discoveries about the city seem much sweeter! I'm sure I'll have a few questions to post here. It must be a photogenic city as there are so many people on here from Houston!!

Cheers
Ben

Phewwwww!

Well, gonna be landing in Houston on July 21 and don't really have plans from there. Just hired a convertible for my wife and I for two weeks to explore and take some pictures.

Cheers

Hello Ben, welcome to Pixtus.com and I hope that you have a good time. I live in the DFW area but I have a soft spot for Houston, right on top of my head. I hope you enjoy your trip. Sound like fun.

By the way, I'm a transplanted Canuck. Love Texas. Don't want to ever leave.
