Hello from Houston (Medical Center) - 07-17-2011, 06:56 PM

Hello...just wanted to put myself out there as a DSLR newbie.

Based on most of the materials online, reviews etc. that I've read I just purchased a

Nikon D7000
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G
Nikon 18-200 f3.5-5.6G
LowePro 202AW
16GB memory card

My primary intent is to take pictures of
1. Landscapes, architectural details, buildings, sunsets / sunrise (Yosemite or other national parks etc.)
2. My dog (when still and moving)
3. Family portraits / weddings / birthdays etc.
4. Everyday pictures including city views at night, fireworks etc.

In terms of advice I am currently relying on
1. Experimenting
2. Scott Kelby's Digital Photography boxed set (just ordered)
3. Ken Rockwell
4. Thom Hogan

Please feel free to give advice given my newbie status and subject interests.

I look forward to learning from as many of you as possible and sharing things I've learned as well.

Best
Finney

Welcome! I know at least Audrey (Auddii) is from your area, and I am sure many other members are as well.

Not sure how I missed this, but welcome to the forum from the med center. Lots of things in the area to photograph, so you won't find yourself lacking in practice shots.
