That's like buying the gift set of tools at Wal Mart, then opening a business to be a mechanic because you own some tools. Lots of good advice here, but if you set yourself up for failure, that's exactly what will happen.

If you wanted to make some money right away as a singer, how would you do it?
1) try to get booked to perform in a bar? Probably not, unless you know the owner of the bar.
2) try to get a record label to front an album for you? Probably not, unless you know the owner of the label.
3) stand on a street corner with a coffee can and sing for people passing in the street? Easiest to do, but don't know if you are going to make any money, or have yourself removed by the cops...

The same is true in any 'content creation business'. You have to establish that your content is actually WORTH something before you can expect any money for it. You could always try working as a photographer at the green-screen booth in the mall. It's steady money.

If you need money urgently freelance photography may not be the way to get it. A part-time job will get you income without debt and you can, in the meantime, invest in equipment, a photography education and building a portfolio - assuming you are committed to it - it's a pretty tough business with an oversaturated market and no barrier to entry.

I appreciate any straightforward advice, but any smartass remarks... I
can do without.

With that being said, I can feel where some of you are coming from,
but with the technology of these Digital Cameras now days, and end-
less possibilities.. I think some of you might over selling this.

There are endless possibilities with digital cameras. But because of all those possibilities, there are a lot of things to learn. You can't expect to put a camera in your hand and immediately be a professional, especially when your heart isn't in it and you are looking for a quick buck.

You went into Real Estate without any training, knowledge and experience, right? (I know you didn't if you have your license.) Commercial Property Management & Broker here.

How can you EXPECT to enter the profession (and make money) without proper equipment, knowledge and training?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Seriously, if you are on the up-and-up, I appologize, but this really does sound like a troll. Really? i have a great camera ergo I can be a professional? The camera is just the tool and it is stupid. It knows nothing about photography. That's like saying "I bought a computer, and I'm going to get a job as a network administrator."

I agree with Tom. Prove everyone wrong. Let everyone know how it's going.

Exactly. We've all taken pictures before, right? And it's not like rooms in a house are racecars moving at 200 mph. How hard could it be?

P.S. That Tom guy wears a funny hat in his avatar, so take what he says with a grain of salt...

race cars at 200mph look better with motion blur and a little out of focus... cause it makes the cars look faster...

Most of Y'all make some good points, and I know it's a science per se, but like Real Estate.. it's not rocket science.

I talked to a local Wedding photographer earlier, and she gave me some good points, and is willing to help me. I'm going to have herself, or someone local..
like her, or maybe a Real Estate Photographer hold my hand long enough to learn the camera funtions, and tricks, and also get a Portfolio at the same time.

I'm very excited about the possilities that this holds, and look forward to what I am able to do with this. I'm a pretty conservative person, and don't typically get into the artsie type stuff, but this is something I can definitely get into.

Thanks again for all the positive advice!

Ah well. Glad it isn't my 'Dollar.' I will stick to what I have experience and training at. Even if it isn't "rocket science" it takes more than picking up a camera and pushing a button. Good luck on the 'fast money.'
